Massage

Massage has been used in healing for centuries.  First writings of its benefits go back as far as 2700 B.C. when the Chinese used it as a therapy, although it wasn't until 500 B.C. that Hipocrates documented its true value. It is now being used world wide for both healing the body and healing the mind.

Many people who suffer from stress use massage on a regular basis to help combat stress related symptoms and illness and find that it is very effective to help calm and relax the body and mind.  Massage can also be used to ease pain by relaxing muscles and promoting the release of seretonin, the feel good chemical in the body.  Circulation and lymphatic drainage can also be improved by the use of massage, by promoting the removal of stagnant waste that can accumulate in the body.

There are many different techniques and types of massage.  The following are all offered as a therapy at this clinic.

Swedish massage- the therapeutic manipulation of tissues finishing each area with hacking and cupping to help improve muscle tone.  Can choose invigorating or relaxing massage.

Therapeutic massage- manipulation of muscles, tendons and ligaments for a total relaxation experience.

Aromatherapy massage- a lavender oil used to aid healing and general well-being, applied using therapeutic massage techniques

Sports massage- using my own tried and tested techniques combined with Swedish, Chinese (Tui-na) and conventional sports massage for deep manipulation of the muscles.

Indian head massage- this technique has been practiced in India for over 3000 years although wasn't introduced in the U.K. until the early 1970's.  Indian head massage works on the scalp, face, shoulder, upper back, neck and arms and is ideal for those of us that need to relax and unwind.

Acupressure massage- a form of massage concentrating on specific acupuncture points on the body.  No needles are used, just           pressure from fingers tips.  A non-invasive form of acupuncture therapy for those who are needle-phobic.
